What is it all about?

The dead internet theory is basically a theory that says because of AI every platform and website will be floded with usless, and or targeted and most importantly generated content. Of corse it is a theory, so some says that the government is behind all of it to gain power, and control crowds, but that is the conspirecy part of the story.

The original theory placed the death of the internet for around 2016 - 2017, but the most feelable "symptoms" has released just recently. Obviously we do live in the world of algorithms since a while, and these used artifficial intelligence far before it reached the grand public, and far before the current LLMs. I do not want to sound like a huuge conteo person, therefore I wont form a public oppinion about "decision controlling", and the influence of these algorithms. What I want to talk about is how AI generated content will ruin art, and social media.

I do know the harm of social media, and that most of it is fake, but at least until recently it had some partial truth in it, at least the person who we folloved existed, but unfortunatly that is not the case anymore. With the developement of AI anyone can create human like images, and videos. If we scale up things we can go even further and create hundreds of thousands of false users and engageing conversations with millions of people and the only limit for this is computing capacity. But these are just my thoughts, let me show you a real example!

It is actually flooded with AI generated content. I'm not saying that this is the only kind of content you can find on pinterest, because that would be false, just like on Instagram, Facebook, ot TikTok. Right now we are in a kinda lucky and comfortable position, we can ignore this issue, becauseat at this stage we can easily separate AI generated content from human made, but the differenc is becoming less and less obvious. And that is the scary part. Art should be untouched, and right now that suffers the most.

Artificcial intelligence can be a huge help for humans without a doubt, but it is a two bladed sword. It could revolutionize industries like health, and engineering, it could help humans improve their lifes, but at the same time it can hurt humanity. My biggest fear of all is that AI will isolate humans furthermore from each other, and lock everyone into their own little metaverse. Humans falling in love with AI chatbots, and AI characters is already happening and we are the most isolated generation ever lived on this planet, and I'm afraid that this will get even worse.

The future is interesting, and can be amazing, we just shouldn't let human greed, and seek of power get in the way. I can honestly tell you that I've learned more from AI than from any other human on this planet, it helped me prepare for exams, and tought me how to become a better engineer. But just like with everything good in this life it should have a limit, we cant use it everywhere for everything.
